ISAP Day Site Tour - Watercare's Central Interceptor Project
Tuesday 24 June 2025 - from 1pm
We are pleased to invite you to join us for an exclusive tour of Watercare’s Central Interceptor project. The Central Interceptor is the largest wastewater project in New Zealand. It features a 4.5m diameter tunnel that runs for 16.2kms under Auckland city and the Manukau Harbour. It will significantly reduce wet weather overflows into streams, resulting in a cleaner environment.
This visit will provide an opportunity to see two facilities in operation: a giant new Pump Station that will be receiving all the flows from the Central Interceptor tunnel and the pilot Water Recycling Plant which is first in NZ. You will also learn about how we are driving innovation for the construction industry, the challenges, and the legacy that Central Interceptor is leaving behind for Tāmaki Makaurau.
For this site visit, you will need - PPE: Hi-Vis, long sleeves, long pants, steel cap boots, hard hat.
